Domains with hyphens in them ("-") are considered poor quality and should only be used in emergencies. They are not worth anywhere near as much as domains with just letters.

Page rank doesn't depend on domain names, but its good to select keyword based domain names. Thanks for the useful guidelines.

Another aspect of the changes Google has implemented over the past couple years was to scrutinize exact match domain names. Used to be, if you wanted to rank for a term, and you could get that exact term as your domain name, you could almost guarantee good placement. Now, not only dose it not carry the weight it did, but exact match domains often trigger a look by a manual webspam rater since so many were done in an attempt to spam the search engines. Always keep in mind, the #1 criteria Google is looking at is user experience. When a user comes to your site, will they enjoy it? Is it useful to them? Oh yeah, and also remember that page rank is not by domain, but rather each individual page of the site has its own rank.

Need some PR trivia? Page rank is not derived from Web Page, but rather from Larry Page, who wrote the original page rank formula.

The DNs is a hierarchical name system computers. I have developed a 4 Points scoring system to determine a Domain name.
    1. Short
    2. Memorable
    3. Related to Your Core Business or Business Name
    4. Hard to Misspell

Yes domain must be phrase of your business name related keyword, or it should be similar to match with your business terminology word(most searched). Now a day this strategy followed by SEO based company ,even they are providing a eCommercial business site traffic on the basis of the domain name.

Your root domain dose NOT need to have your keywords. As long as you have your permalink structure set correctly, you can always add the keyword into the page or post title. Just be mindful of the limits of characters in your url.

The domain name itself has nothing to do with the Page rank value/score. It's all about creating quality links to your website and high quality content.

I agree that Domain name makes our site highly searched and rankable in the web.Basically crawler start from Domain name then move for other details of that site so when some one searched keyword in search bar its easy for serach engine to identify that niche wise site with their name only.

I agree with user Vickroyal on this one. A domain name itself does not have PR. PR is based on SEO and link building. If you have a certain product or service it could be important to choose a domain name with your product name, service or major keyword within your domain name and that could help it come up easier in the search engines. You could also buy a domain name that is expiring or being sold that has previous page rank which comes from previous SEO and link building but the actual domain name itself doesn't carry any PR.

It's a bit ambiguous to say a domain generates PR. Maybe it does but it's not the primary driver of PR since PR is a little bit of everything under the SEO umbrella. If you want your domain to easily get search engines' attention then use your keywords as domain name and extension. For instance if your working on real estate prospecting, then your domain may appear this way: www.realestateprospecting.com or (if you have your company name, use it in a page) www.abcde.com/real-restate-prospecting.html.

High-PR links do it. The higher the PR of the links, and the more you have, the better your PR will be.
