How easy is this to do and are there any pitfalls? I have read the instructions and they seem straight forward, but they seem to be written by someone who is a geek and knows what they are doing. That's why I dislike blogger so much, but I am willing to try it out and move one of my domain names over to a blogger account. A good idea or not? I wish I could test it out first, but any advice and opinions?
 
There are people who have had their blogs closed down by Blogger for spam, even though they did not think they had done anything wrong. I guess it depends on how much original content there is and how many affiliate or referral links are posted on the blog.

The problem with using Blogger, or any free blog host, is that you are not free to use it as you please. There are also terms and conditions on paid hosting blogs but you do have more freedom with regard to how you make money from your own blog.
 
I'm just going to host a holding page as a trial on a .info domain to see how it works. I don't like too many ads anyhow, but it would be better for my ranking as I only use it currently to forward to the blog.

I assume they give you a warning if they are going to close your blog? I use my wordpress over blogger for that reason and it's the same articles but reblogged and more streamlined.
 
If the blog seems too spamy then you run the risk of the blog being deleted though I have never had this happen to me. The problem with a free hosted blog is that you have little to no say or control when it comes to your blog getting deleted if that happens. I don't think blogger cares that much though. I use them for a few blogs or to drive traffic elsewhere and have had no problems so far.

Wordpress has actually given me more trouble believe it or not. They thought one of my personal blogs was too spamy for some reason and locked it. I had to contact them about it and get it fixed. Yet, my spammy blogger blogs are still up and doing fine. Go figure!
 
Blogger is really easy to use but as others have mentioned before Google can close down a blog at any given time if they feel it violate their terms of service. That's the main drawback any free service has, you are not really free to do whatever you want with it. But if you are sure your site will follow Blogger rules then give it a try and see for yourself if that's the service you want or not.
 
I don't see anything wrong with Blogger. I love using it. It's also just for free, so why not take this chance and test the waters? It wouldn't hurt to do so. Good luck! (y)
 
It was actually easier to do than the instructions. Seriously they should get a layman to write the instructions as they make it sound more complicated and more difficult than it actually is. I find that with google, everyone is a geek and they can't express themselves in plain language and I told them that in the feedback.
 
Have you ever had a Blogspot blog? If you do, then that's basically how it feels hosting on Blogger. What's great about Blogger is that it's powered by Google so you can integrate it with your Google Analytics and AdSense accounts. Stats will immediately show up on your dashboard. If you tried hosting through the WordPress platform, you'd see that hosting with Blogger isn't that much different.
 
I have a little bit of experience using both Blogger and Wordpress. I would say that Blogger is easier to use and therefore, the better one in my opinion. It is also much easier to use registered domains from Namecheap, etc. and use it in Blogger. Also, because Blogger is owned by Google, Adsense is built in and is integrated in the service if your blog qualifies for it.

That get a custom domain without .blogspot.com you need go to Settings of your blog on Blogger and register it. After this you need to register Google Apps account. Domain you register with their partner Enom.
 
Google host blog on servers. The big way to change blogsphere. The bloggers are missing in Search Engine Optimization.
 
After choosing a domain name for your new blog, picking a host is your next job. There are so many choices out there, with pros and cons to each one, so how do you choose? Hosting is very important, but it’s not what will make your new blog a success. Make a choice and move on with more important work like writing, posting, and building your audience.
