I'm quite disappointed with Facebook. I have a page with about 14k fans where I share the stuff I post on my blog. Things were a lot better a few years ago, before they introduced the ability to pay for extra visibility. Nowadays I barely get 100 visitors / day from fb. A few years ago they were in the thousands. The issue for me at least is that it's not economically viable for me to pay for extra visibility on fb, so I'm just wondering if it's even worth bothering with them anymore, specially if you're thinking about starting a new page.

It does seem that Facebook is slowly fading. I have a teenage daughter and she doesn't use Facebook. She said that is for the old/older people. They use Twitter more and KIK messenger.

Well I don't really use Facebook for fan pages/advertisement like I used to. I only use if for social purposes now. And even then I don't use it very often.

I don't think it's worth paying for extra visibility at Facebook, because most users will focus on people they know or brands they want to connect with.

Having thousands of social media friends is less important than having a core of friends/connections/followers with a common interest in topics you post about and are sharing with your network.

If you think that Facebook is not working well for you anymore, then I suggest just quit it, or you'll just waste your time bothering with it, specially now that it has already changed its rules and asking for a payment in return of extra visibility. It's not worth it.

Correct. Most of your twitter followers simply ignore your tweets and are practically useless as far as getting page hits, etc. What is important is to have a (perhaps smaller) group of people are interested in your topic.

I think Facebook still worth my effort. I could still attract more people in my blog through my fb. But I agree with you FB looks likes fading slowly. Maybe because of the advent of other social media sites.

I don't think it's fading away yet. People are on facebook now more than ever. Facebook is still at its peak from what I can see.

I personally use facebook for socializing and not for promotion or advertising.
