I think a YouTube video can give you a hand with SEO. If you make engaging videos with good content, YouTube can drive a lot of traffic to your page, if you put a link in your video descriptions. Plus, If the video happens to go viral your page will rise a lot in the ranks.

Let's say you have 1000 regular visitors / month on your page and you decide to make nice videos for YouTube and put your website in the description. Now if you make an entertaining and engaging video on a unique niche you can have like 100.000 views within a couple of weeks. Let's say 10% of the people that watch the video click on the link to your website because they want to know more about what you do. 10% of 100.000 is 10.000. Now let's say 10% of the people that visited your website through your YouTube videos end up being regular visitors. (10.000*0.10)+1000=2000 regular visitors/ month (which is double of what you had previously).

Plus, you you embed the YouTube video in your page, it will make your page more popular in the search engines, and that you will also make your YouTube video more popular.

So, are YouTube videos worth it as far as SEO goes? Yes, I think so, and I would recommend it.

I don't understand. Are you asking if a YouTube video will rank well, if a YouTube link will help your site to rank well, or whether or not having a YouTube video on your site will improve the rankings?

Yes, YouTube is very good for SEO. Videos rank very well.

I have an insurance blog. I no longer update it. It has a tremendous amount of content on it including videos. YouTube helped me to rank well for my local keywords. YouTube is supposedly the second largest search engine so it would be foolish to ignore it.

If you know how to use the system properly, youtube can be a huge resource in helping you get the rankings that you need. Posting legitimate entertaining or useful content will drive viewers and viewers equal rank. Just keep working at it.

I don't know how it could help your ranking on. Google searches but I'm sure it does help a bit since even Google+ supposedly helps out on your rank if you get shared enough times there. Regardless, i think just having presence in youtube ultimately helps you out with visibility anyway so it's probably worth it.

Youtube unfortunately, doesn't rank as well as it did last year. I would be able to get a Youtube video on page one relatively quickly for keywords which would get a few thousand searches a month, but now it as though Google does't like videos on page one, like they used to.

For a while there, when Google was toying around with its blended search results, they were often putting Youtube videos over top of really difficult to achieve 1st place listings in their organic SERPs. I would see rather stupid, hastily thrown together videos, showing up at the top of the page for some really competitive terms.

As another poster noted, they don't seem to be blending in Youtube as much these days, but they still do. To that effect, I think it would still be a good idea to try and create small video segments related to tail terms pertaining to your niche. If it's a low competition keyword, it's likely even more low competition on Youtube, and should be relatively easy to get placement at the top of the blended search results.

There are tools such as Video Maker FX and Sparkol VideoScribe that can help you put together professional looking presentation videos. You can also pick up some cheap stock footage to intermingle in over at Videohive, and hire someone over at Fiverr to narrate it for you for 5 bucks.

In my opinion, I think YouTube could be utilized as a firm tool for SEO. Especially nowadays where there is a margin of individuals, whether it be small or big, who would prefer to watch a video versus read content. The videos automatically have to be engaging and informative to keep viewers watching. Along with those aspects, the videos need to be interactive (I.e. send viewers to website, social media page, share, like, etc.). These aspects are tactical and very critical to increasing traffic and ranking. However, when it comes to complete optimization of SEO, YouTube won't suffice as the only tool in the arsenal. There definitely has to be some fundamental content and use of extensive keywords to thoroughly support and strengthen videos.

Youtube can be very good for SEO, getting traffic and ranking but it depends on two factors: the videos should be engaging and of quality.

The video has to be well made. This can mean different things depending on the niche and what kind of video you are trying to make. If you want to brand yourself as a make-up guru, for example, then you need to be engaging and spend a lot of time editing clips together, adding music and just making the video look nice over all. If you want to make tutorial videos for something like how to stream your desktop, then you can get away with doing less editing. You wouldn't even need to speak or film yourself because you can use text in the video instead.

Your youtube video also has to be engaging and not pointless. To use the video tutorial as an example again, a video tutorial has to actually be helpful and clearly explain the steps needed to reach the end goal.

If your youtube video lacks these two things, then it might not be very helpful in ranking or SEO because people won't watch or like the video thus pushing it farther down the youtube searches.

Choosing a good title and keywords/tags is also very important when posting the video online, but I think this pretty much goes without saying.

Not really a powerful tool, but absolutely, YouTube can be a good way to help you increase your traffic. There's nothing wrong with trying and testing the waters. Go for it.

YouTube can help bring users to your site if that's what you're talking about. You will have to already have a decent sized following though because it will most likely be a waste of time otherwise.

Youtube is just one of those where you can go and find what videos you want to watch. I am more sure that when you have SEO you can relax more and let your crew do the work.

You certainly can't relax because you have to keep making videos regularly. Otherwise you'll loose subscribers and your channel will die out.

YouTube is very powerful when tapped the right way. What you need to do is simply embed videos on your website or blog. On your YouTube account, create a channel those videos. Make sure the keywords you use on your website and the keywords you use on your channel and video titles are parallel. Optimize the description and tags by using the same set of keywords. Don't forget to add links to your website or pages on the description section of your YT videos. There is also such a thing as constant update. If you've made changes to the vids, make sure to let your followers or subscribers know about them. Use mirror or upload the videos to as many sharing sites as possible using the same set of keywords. Remember not to duplicate the descriptions and to add links to your website.

The issue is that not every vid goes viral. Just have to take it slow.and get through.

Yeah if you're going to have a popular youtube channel it definitely has to be about something you're passionate about because you need to make lots and lots of videos. And they have to be good videos that people will want to watch as well. If you'll notice, all of the large channels on youtube make videos regularly and have a ton of them.

Viral may happen if you target audiences that are sincerely interested in your products and services. Why would you show your vids to people who're not interested, anyway? But you have to qualify the word "viral." Are you talking about millions of views? You have to be realistic. If the size of your niche isn't as big as the pop music-crazed teenage netizen community, then say goodbye to your millions of views. That will take decades to happen. Your number of views will only be as good as the size of your niche.

Exactly what I mean is millions of views kind of like what happen with Justin Bieber when he was in that Youtube video. Getting a video on Youtube is easy, but if you are trying to go viral then that really requires luck and hard work. The niche is one of the things to really becoming successful with any market in business if you do not know how it works then you are out of luck.
