Facebook may become less popular as new models in social networking develop and start to become more widely used, but as long as it has millions of daily users there is no way that Facebook is going to disappear overnight. It has always adapted to keep up with trends and it will keep on using every opportunity to prosper.

Like it or not, everyone has the choice of using Facebook or staying away. It only has power in the sense that it has more than a billion registered users and many big businesses benefit from it.

May become less and less popular but it still has a 2years+ lifespan.

I don't think Facebook is too big be killed off. I have seen a lot of internet companies rise and fall. Nothing should be taken for granted. It's not as popular with the "younger" crowd as it used to be, but it's not going anyway soon.

Most of the younger crows migrate towards Instagram and other programs. Reason is, facebook becomes more and more popular and that way it loses it's value for the younger generation.

I don't think Facebook will died out. It has a big fan base and it gets better and better. But maybe in the future if a new much entertaining social media app will be release in the public. Take for example what happen to Friendster when Facebook was introduce it suddenly died out. But I love and Facebook and I hope it will not fade away.

Yep. I remember when MySpace was the thing. Dead as a door nail now though. Ironically you stopped hearing about MySpace right around the time that Facebook became popular. Seems all their business was stolen lol.

That is definitely an overstatement. Perhaps Facebook is in power at present, but for how long will it stay on top? I used to think Friendster was all too powerful but it obviously wasn't. It ruled the social media scene for a few years along with Multiply and MySpace. Sadly, those SNS didn't last for long. Even if there's still MySpace, the network is no longer of the same level as Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.

And this is what will happen to facebook too. It's a continuous circle that repeats itself.

I am sure that Facebook will eventually die out. Nothing lasts forever. Some new technology will come out and someone will invent something that compliments it well and people will start migrating to that. Kind of like what happened to MySpace. Someone thought of something better. I am sure it will take quite a long time before it dies though.

To tell you the truth, I give FB another 5 years at most. Facebook is overrated. Someone will create a social site better than that, and that will continue until Social sites won't be necessary anymore.

It is definitely not too powerful. They probably felt the same way about Myspace and look at it now. There are many great minds out there. Someone will create the next best social media website and people will become hooked on that. Let's see what hot in the next 10 years.

I, myself am fascinated with trying to predict the future. It will be interesting to look back at this thread 10 years from now and see how accurate our predictions were.

I am pretty sure one will come by soon, I've seen one or at least i think its great, tho its confidential and development at best. We live in an era where people want choices. A rival to Facebook will happen.
