With SEO strategies and social media making a difference in the way people transact business, I feel like joining the bandwagon and putting up an online SEO company. Unlike offline businesses, you only need to make full use of your SEO and computer skills and have a PC/laptop and steady Internet connection on hand. So my question is, particularly for those who've already got a business going, how much capital is required to launch a SEO business? I'm fine with approximates. Thanks!

@xTinx I run an seo consultancy agency and from my experience £0.00. What you need is time, lots of time! Especially if you are a one man team as it can get very daunting. Customers sometimes expect miracles overnight and that is where communication skills will come in. It can be very rewarding especially if you can deliver results

I think with most online businesses about $200 would be a good round number to test out the market and to see if the industry is right for you. For SEO, however, I'd have to agree with Samuel that it's probably best not to invest money and instead just invest enough time in learning the ropes. At most maybe spend on domains and servers, maybe, but that's fairly cheap as far as I know.

I agree Samuel. I have an acquaintance who is a PPC expert. He started in the Top Tier Affiliate Marketing arena and specialized into this area when he decided what he wanted to do with his Home Biz. Plenty of people use the PPC strategy to gain quick traction and results and that makes up his clientele. It is an expensive method (can be a money pit if you do not know how to do it) but, if done correctly, puts the money back in your pocket quickly ... as long as you are selling a good product.

Other than that, SEO on its own will take time and during this, there will be minimal or no earnings ...

It also depends on what direction you want to take. Service provider or outsource it with the latter being more expensive and cutting into your profit margin while you stand a chance of your reputation being tarnished if the outsourcing company is bad but costs you nothing to get started and you do not have to do a thing

I started onlline marketing with the only investments being my PC and Internet connection. Before I actually made a sale I spent months mainly reading online. When you start as a newbie, it takes a long time to learn stuff. I wish I had money to buy software tools like Xrumer the.

I am a one-man team but I do get help from my IT friend and some other friend who's already got his own business going. I feel overwhelmed with the prospect of building one since I still have my full-time job and other online gigs to contend with. I'm slowly building up my website with my friend's help and my own SEO system (which I'm doing alone) so it's been a long and winding road to actual progress. And yes customers can be awfully demanding. I will warn them all in advance once my website's up. Thanks for the advice.

Nah, I don't think I'll be considering outsourcing. My offline work's in the outsourcing field so the business I'm about to undertake may fall in line with this industry. It's more like an outsourced SEO and digital marketing company (since firms have the option to start their own SEO campaigns too). My target market would be start-up businesses.

What's great about starting an online business is that the initial investment can be very low, even zero money. I think the barely essentials are a domain name and a place to host the site. A domain costs around $10 to $15 but it's easy to get one for as low as $1. A decent host costs about $5 per month (or less). Do some maths and you'll see that the startup investment won't need to be more than $15.

Besides that what you need to invest is a lot of time and effort.

I really think it depends on what kind of business you were going into - some online business requires enough capital to purchase inventory while others may only need enough to invest in a website and hosting.

I have to cross many of my friends experts in Business Management. They are highly engaged in business development through SEO. They are using social networks for advertising, email marketing and other offers like discounts and special additional offers for their products according the clearence sales and boosting sale for minimum profit and more transaction. They main idea and motive is the investment should be revolving at least with minimum profit. Their business views works well and many people got more profit on consultation with this SEO consultants.

Theoritical business is different from practical and experienced business. Entering in a business is simple but you have to get profit. You should know the business tactics. So for I am concerned, still more innovative technologies should be introduced in the field of business. Now most of the business are online. It is developing more and more. Why you shloudn't be a business owner! because you know SEO practices.

You can start a website for a meesely $10. All you need are a web host and domain name. With a good deal you can get these for hardly anything at all. That's the minimum. From there you can pretty much spend as much as you have to spare on advertising, software, etc. The main thing is work really. It isn't so much money as it is money and time. You will be vertually the only one on your site in the beginning and it will be difficult at times but if you can find the right niche and are determined enough, you can make it work. Advertising is just a side. Hard work is the main thing.

It depends on what kind of online business you're planning to venture into and how much money you're willing to spend on it.
