The current figures report that 55% of small businesses do not have a website. Some businesses think that they don’t need a website or they can’t afford one. Others think that because they are not selling online that a website would not be to their advantage. The fact is that less people look in their phonebook for businesses phone number or address then on their computer. You can get a lot more information than just location from a business’s website and it’s quicker than finding your phonebook looking up the category and then finding the listing then simply type the business name and city into your favorite search engine.

Mainly Websites are Registered and people trustworthy only for registered site. But in my opinion for a small business blogger and WordPress blog is good in starting as you are giving your product or services information plus all contact details in your blog also.

I think a WordPress Blog although a good addition to a company website doesn't look as professional as having a website with the company name as the domain.

You said it right. A website is indispensable. In addition, you should by now claim you space on the internet before someone else takes your place.

Like any website, how professionally done it is will determine how it looks and a well done WordPress website can look and function great. A company name as a domain is fine if your company is a household name, but if not and you are trying to get found, then search terms for a domain name has a lot of SEO value.

    A good post!

Times change and if you want to stay in business, you need to change with them. There was a time when yellow pages was about the only option for small businesses to market, but those days are gone. There are so many online options for marketing because that is where people are looking. You need to market to your target market and if your target market threw away their yellow pages the day they got it and are searching online, then you better be marketing online. It starts with a website and now days progresses to a mobile mobile website as searches shift to mobile from computers. It's always important to invest in your success with the right marketing.

So true. I always use the web to find local businesses. I've not bothered to update the phone books for years now, the last ones I picked up are on the top of the cupboard collecting dust - it really is time I had a throw out :)

Good article Magick. You don't have any social share buttons on your site.

I have a Pinterest button on my homepage but that's it. The problem with using social media is you have to be social or it does you no good. I just don't have time for FaceBook although I do have a twitter account and linkedin account for the business.

Bottom line is, I just don't have the time.

Fair enough - I've share apps on my tool bar, just means two clicks instead of one ;)

small business are difficult to promote physically as they don't have branches, big clients as well as finance, so promoting it online can make some traffic and can make it known by worldwide. website will also share your business information and save your valuable time.
