So many people(companies) advertise the world and I keep getting screwed. Talking about SEO of course. I started a new company in a niche market, I tried Pay per click's with help from google, not one sale! Yellow pages, supposed leading SEO company. NOTHING!! I going broke trying companies. What next?

    Hi Wayne,

Whats your URL? I'll be happy to take a look and see if I can give you any suggestions. Are you getting traffic? If your getting good traffic and not making any sales the problem may be in the site, but I'm getting ahead of myself. As I said lets look the site over and see what we find.

Mean time Welcome to eForum :)

    Ok Wayne,

I've been looking at your site and the coding is pretty good really. Are you hosted with GoDaddy? Do you have access to stats? I would try different keywords and see if that doesn't improve things somewhat. Make sure you put your URL on all of you offline marketing materials (flyers, business cards print ads etc). Some of the fonts are a little hard to read and it all seems a little busy. The right hand column is really good (bold type "Does your pond or lake look like this? We can fix it") Clean and to the point will draw customers in. People look at websites and if they have to read a lot to find what they want they go elsewhere.
If you need I have a guy I use to run SEO reports on new sites that I do and he charges about $5.

I hope this helps, maybe someone else has suggestions also.

Design is an issue, I did this myself, don't claim to be a web guy. I'm looking at shopping carts. But I can't stand the monthly charges. I'm looking at Web assist ecart, $200 and done, with paypal. I only have a dozen or so products to sell, not like Walmart

You really did a pretty good job as far as design for doing it yourself. As I said I think it's a bit wordy. Maybe 350 words per page is good. but focus the site (and the visitor) on the product. If you only have a dozen products you can just use PayPal buttons or PayPal pro ($15 a month I think).
If you decide to redesign let me know I might be able to help.

I'm a firm believer in ORGANIC positioning with search engines. Money is a big issue of course. Do you use Dreamweaver 8? I would consider doing 1 page at a time. Pond and lake restoration would be number 1

I use Expression Web a lot for design. If you do one page at a time I think you should do your landing page first as that's the one that's going to decide whether people look at another page or not. It would be cheaper to do the whole site rather than one page at a time as the fist page is usually used as a template for the rest.

Sure, you just need to make sure you have downloaded the updated version before making changes and uploading them. Otherwise your overwriting all the new code.

    Hi Wayne,
When it comes to SEO, the best person that you can rely on is yourself. I learnt my lessons by signing up to so many so-called SEO expert that offer nothing but crap. But going through all the pains of researching, I got what I want (Google Search first page for my keywords).

    The trick is:
    1) Use Google Keyword tool to do your Keyword Competition Analysis
    2) Use High PR backlinks. PR 6-9 only. (You can sign up to Angela Backlinks. I think it's still USD5 per month. Angela will provide 30 quality High PR sites and guide you on how to build it. You dont need alot of backlinks. Just have enough of quality High PR backlinks will do because Step 3 will do everything else for you)
    3) Use indexing service. This is abit of an investment but it's worthy as it builds backlinks to your High PR backlinks. I am currently using backlinksindexer which cost me about USD15 per month.

Total investment = USD20 per month and I can almost guarantee that you will get good SERP ranking.

You can read my post explaining on Keyword Competition Analysis here : dillonyong.com

Hope that this helps! Good luck

Website Magick, I would really love some help too if you can assist. My website is simple, relatively new and I'm trying very hard to increase rankings and traffic - with a limited budget. I blog religiously and have just set up a content syndication system with ping.fm - are there many details I am missing and need to take care of or will it take time to get a higher ranking? Thanks for your help!

After a quick look I'd have to say you did a great Job with using WordPress. Did you do this yourself? You have a meta tag for description but I couldn't find one for keywords. Google dosent look at keywords anyway but many other search engines do.

I'm going to send you a pm to another forum that I have owned for close to 10 years. It's more of a spiritual thing and you may get some traffic from there and we can give you a few other suggestions. I would also recommend a SEO guy that I work with that will also submit your site to hundreds of search engines and FFA forums. He only charges $5 and I received a lot of traffic because of him. His name is Joe and his email is, chip@chipsmail.co.uk
    He'll need:
    URL
    Description
    Keywords

Tell him Website Magick referred you

    Hope this helps

I did use a Wordpress theme I customized myself (I was formerly a software dev). I had heard that meta keywords were not so important but you're right, better to be on the safe side.

Thank you so much - I will go to this forum and contact Joe as well. I really appreciate the help :)
