When applying to become an affiliate, I got a confirmation from amazon and a decline from ebay. I heard that ebay will automatically decline any request from a website that has amazon affiliate links on it since they are competitors. Anyone knows if this is true or if maybe there is a different reason I got declined. (I got always accepted so I was surprised to notice that ebay declined me)

Well if that is the case then stay away from being an affiliate for Ebay. Despite Amazon being iffy on the whole jobs situation in Tracy that one time they would be better to work with as far as their affiliate line is concerned. Ebay has lots of used stuff anyway but they do have some good stuff though LOL.

Interesting, this is the first I've heard of this, but it may have to do with the problems eBay has with some vendors on there simply buying stuff from Amazon at a cheaper price and reselling it on eBay at a higher price. I've seen lots of get rich quick scheme guides that suggest doing this. They will find a product that is in stock on Amazon at a really low price, then set up a listing on eBay for it for a higher price. When a customer buys it on eBay, they just place the order on Amazon and ship it directly to the persons address as a gift.

This obviously creates headaches when the customer wonders why their order shipped from Amazon instead, and it could get even worse if they go to Amazon and see it selling at the lower price and realize they were duped. Also customer support from that eBay account is likely non-existent since they can't return the item to the eBay seller, they have to dispute with Amazon, but the eBay seller is the one who would get the refund credited to his/her account.

You could possibly try hiding your Amazon affiliate links behind URL shorteners to see if that helps, but technically you are supposed to have a disclaimer on your site that you are an affiliate. Or, just simply wait before posting either affiliate links on your site, and get both accounts approved first, then put them up.

It could be possible competition isn't really the problem here. There may be other factors that prompted Ebay to say no to your affiliation request. Perhaps they had other requirements, and the Amazon link aside, you may have been unable to comply with one or a few of those requirements.
