There have been many posts deleted from eforum by scam companies claiming to be affiliate programs offering huge profits with little or no work. There are no products except getting others to sign up. These are pyramid schemes and people lose money getting involved while the owners get rich. They eventually get shut down and all the new people lose their money.

Interesting article- I see people pushing 'The Empower Network' all the time- is it an MLM company?
Also, what can you tell me about ZipZilchNada? I haven't been able to find any negative feedback on it, which tends to make me suspicious- even Apple and Google get a lot of negative feedback. :cool:

Hi Chas,

On the zip nada site the first thing you see is products. Unlike the Empower site they are also not claiming "easy money" but it looks like an ad based program.

Empower network has no product but claim its "easy Money". Its another pyramid scheme. Even with an MLM there is a product.

Things to watch out for with false affiliate programs are
  1. Do they have a product(s)
  2. Are they claiming they can make you rich
  3. Does it say "easy money" or earn while you sleep?
  4. Do they require a website?
there are probably more but those are deal breakers.
 
Good article. Just of late, I've seen The Empower Network around quite a bit - out scooping up new recruits.

I so agree with the statement, that if anyone who tells you it's easy and little work to run a money making website has never done it. There is just as much work involved with an online business as there is when you work a brick and mortar business.

You bring up an excellent point Julie,

"Treat it like a business!" instead of signing up for every get rich quick scheme to find out which one is real (none are), start with a plan, do some research, map it out (business plan just like a brick and mortar business) and then be flexible. Your business plan is a living document and should be revised regularly.

And yes,

Be prepared to work. Just like a brick and mortar business, if you are not there you don't have a business.

After doing further research, I found out ZNZ's business model is basically an MLM for affiliate marketing. You qualify by accepting a trial offer(you have 30 days to cancel the offer) of some product(credit report, skin cream, etc.) in order to promote ZNZ and then you make commissions off of everyone who signs up under you and clicks on the trial offers, once you qualify.
From my POV, it just doesn't make sense to add another middleman to affiliate marketing, when you can receive commissions directly from companies just by joining an affiliate network such as Commission Junction for free and posting ads from those companies on your own web site.
 
Again it seems a little fishy. You make commissions off those who sign up under you just like any other pyramid. Sounds like the products are pretty much irrelevant.

Also what does it take to qualify?
 
You qualify by accepting a trial offer of some product( credit report, insurance, teeth whitening, wrinkle creme, etc.)
