Photoshop has become an all-purpose, go-to tool for everyone. It's a massive application, weighed down by years of iterations both major and minor, and now it can do pretty much any imaging task you want to throw at it.

But this all-purpose approach is its biggest failing. It's simply too complex for a specialist web designer to use.

In this article I'm going to set out my stall as to how I see a different kind of tool - one which will take us forward into the brave new world of digital design in the 2010s.
