Sperry boat shoes

Paul Sperry designed the Sperry Top Siders in 1935 because there was a need for a good, solid shoe that could perform well under wet conditions. He created a type of sole that adhered better to the wet surfaces of his sail boat than existing shoes. He engineered a design with cut grooves in the sole to improve grip without losing flexibility.
