Social networks are the rage of the day as super tools for marketing and for spreading your word ! with over 2500 social networking marketing sites on the web it becomes a difficult task to choose the right ones where one could get results ! Facebook and twitter being too crowded and the craze are less likely to yield desired results with less than 10,000 followers or friends and to reach that figure is a patient task few could afford so are these sites simply chatting machines in the garb of social networking ? This ploy of communication has worked as all big names in the industry try to have there presence in these sites

I'm not so sure if the "over crowdedness" is a disadvantage. Can you elaborate how this could be a disadvantage in your marketing campaigns?

A social network is a social structure made up of a set of actors (such as individuals or organizations) and the dyadic ties between these actors. The social network perspective provides a clear way of analyzing the structure of whole social entities.[1] The study of these structures uses social network analysis to identify local and global patterns, locate influential entities, and examine network dynamics.

My Twitter and Facebook pages are strictly social. I'm slightly offended by some of my "friends" and "followers" who spam their "opportunities" several times a day. Properly used, Facebook is a wonderful marketing platform and some of the new features make it even better. A business or product page is a must and enough care must be taken to make it attractive to potential visitors. Some use contests or giveaways to build up their "likes" but I use a highly valued product at a reasonable price and it seems to work. In order to attract visitors you must use Facebook advertising. It costs money but as you are reaching up to 900,000 users, it's certainly worth it. This is the best way to get "likes" which makes your page postings reach more people. I haven't advertised on Twitter yet but I may consider it at some point.
