I put a list of some rules for Facebook and these also apply to other social media websites.

    • Don't be one of those spammer pages that keeps bumping their product to make sure people buy it. It will look unnatural and it will look like you're shoving your product down peoples' throats.
    • Promote your product by giving away samples or even have contests with your product as a prize. People love free stuff and it's great publicity for your company.
    • Make sure that people are having fun in your page. Upload interesting and fun content that is worth being shared. That will make you look more important in people's eyes even if the posts don't have anything to do with your product. People had fun in your page and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
    • When you have more followers, focus your campaign and change your page style a bit to please the demographics of people that are more engaged in your page.
    • Remove all the spammer, junk, and scammers from your page. Not only will the page look better, but your engagement with the users will increase as well.
    • Make posts that make your users not only like the post and share but also comment on it or select a response. Questions or polls with trivial answers are the best for this because the friends of the people that answer can see their answers and you have a bigger chance of going viral.
    • See your social media websites as a means to change the views people have of your company instead of trying to make them buy your product.
Keep in mind that you must have different business tactics for pages of different sizes. A page with 1.000 likes is not the same as a page with 2.000.000 likes.

Do you know any good tips on social media marketing? I would love to hear them.

Great tips! I was once suspended for a few days on FB because I kept adding friends and didn't post or communicate nearly enough so I think the bots thought I was a spammer. I think a good tip would be as creative as you can be to set yourself apart from the rest of the people trying to gain attention on there.

I have to practice number three. My page is just full of my articles, and rarely show shareable content. I might find and share some personally created memes in order to draw more people to my page. There was a picture once of a funny menu, maybe I can find some more of that.

Some of the tips you enumerated are things people already know but choose to ignore. Facebook can be used in so many different ways, but I don't understand why people are callous enough to market their products and services the underhanded and/or annoying way. These people should be reprimanded. I tried reporting people or companies that conduct their marketing like common spammers but Facebook turns a blind eye whenever I try to report them. It's really disappointing.
