W3C Validation Issue with site ...

    i found an issue with my site today while w3c validation .I found an error
    ": there is no attribute "name"
    and
    description as given below :-




    but i couldnt understood what the issue is ?what does it means ?Does it makes my site indexing slowly ?

    The W3C validation stuff can make you go insane. At the very top of the source code of websites, there is a snippet of code that should be the very first thing in the document and looks similar to this:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    Whatever yours is, it does not fit with the type of document you are using. You can go to W3C and it will give you a list of appropriate code that should be on the top of your source code of your site.

    i checked there and after that i raised the issue regarding this one but this causes my sites ranking lower instead of lots of SEO?i dont think so .help me if you think it effects lot

    Not lots of SEO, but pure organic white hat SEO is what helps sites to rank, along with unique content and other factors. W3C compliance is not a ranking factor, according to Matt Cutts of Google. Like I said, that stuff will drive you drink. I wouldn't be concerned. A website template may come compliant, but when you start adding content it quickly goes out of compliance. You can spend hours upon hours trying to get a site compliant. I've seen where W3C says a tag isn't closed when it actually is closed. I've seen when it says a character doesn't exist, when lo and behold there it is. I've also seen where it says a certain code should be on a site that actually disfigures it. That's when I closed out W3C site and took a walk to the beach.

    Absolutely. W3C compliance is a crap shoot. It takes a valium prescription to even think about being bothered with it No matter what you do you'll never be able to completely 100% comply. Waste of precious time.

    I'm a web Developer and a client put my site through the W3C validation Engine...and got pretty upset with me...then I told them to put in www.microsoft.com needless to say they wern't mad at me anymore...even the Giant Microsoft with their oodles of
    web guys had tons of errors LOL..

    LMAO!!! Just goes to show ya, some stuff just ain't important and is pure BS. As if we don't have enough to contend with, like with G's Panda and Farmer shenanigans. Don't get me started :rolleyes: .

    This validator checks the markup validity of Web documents in HTML, XHTML, SMIL, MathML, etc. If you wish to validate specific content such as RSS/Atom feeds or CSS stylesheets, MobileOK content, or to find broken links, there are other validators and tools available.
