    Hi everyone,

I'm after some advice about blogs as I'm completly new to them and have no idea where to start.

Should I start a blog on my own website linking to my own products and is it possible to submit blogs to other site linking to my products (I have just spent hours looking and only found one site that accepts submissions linking to your own site)?

What makes a good article to write?

I know these may sound like simple questions but being new to this I just have no idea where to start!

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply, I have been reading on here but found conflicting advice and I have not been able to find answers to my own questions. I will spend time re-reading them.

I will try to answer as much as I can...
The best thing will be to:

    1. start a blog on your website, but make it yoursite.com/blog/category/sub-category/article. Do not make it blog.yoursite.com.
    2. another 1, 2 - 10 blogs and to write articles related to your niche, and to send links to your website and your blog, but you need to do this using common sense (you should not put links to your website in each and every article... link to other sites too).
    3. write articles about your products and post them as a guest blogger or on Articles Directory.

I know... there will be lots and lots of articles to write, so you might need to hire a freelancer content writer. (I can borrow you mine)

    A good article is:
    1. Informative article, that gives real useful information. Also, for search engines, it will have to contain keywords, related keywords (also long tail keywords). Think about what articles you like to read... I advise you to read David Ogilvy's books.
    2. There are many types of articles. I will give you one example: Tunnel Articles. This is an article that promises you that you will find the solution to your problem, but will only make you to click a link to find the answer.

I hope this will help :)

Thank you very much for your reply, I appreciate this very much as it has opened my eyes and made things seem much clearer.

Just a couple of questions if you don't mind?

How does this help your own site?

Details would be great thank you.

I've never heard of these! Can you explain what they are please?

Once again thanks for your time.

When you link your content to sites like wikipedia, google will love you :)
When you link your content to well established sites (for example apple if you talk about apple products) you don't leak traffic but you gain google's respect.

I work with a great writer, she writes articles for me in english, spanish, french and german, SEO optimized and with related keywords... great price too :)

Long tail keywords are the keywords that contain more than 4 words.
    Example:
Using robot to automate all the social networks to promote my website, I have many more chances to be on google serp first page (search engine results page) than with Twitter Robot or Facebook Robot

    You're welcome :)

This subject is widely covered on other blogs, such as The Suitcase Entrepreneur, Social Networking Girl, Monica Crowe, etc.

I too agree that you should start a blog. Write about your products and then yes, link to them. Keep the comments open and interact with your blog readers. It really bugs me when I read a product write-up/review on a blog and the comments are closed. You can submit your blog to directories within your category.

To add to Imotim advice on article writing, submit articles in the correct category. You need to read the terms and conditions on submissions with regard to how many or if links are allowed within an article but, there is always an authors profile and you can usually place your blog/website url there.

And as Chas said, you will learn alot from other bloggers. ;)

Very helpful reply Imotim. Not only did you answer the question but you were also able to give readers something to consider and think about for their own blogs. Thanks!
