Hi All, I'm new to the site. I am a web developer and can provide a quick, simple answer for those looking for it. Basically, the web designer is the creative one who comes up with the colour scheme, layout and sometimes the images used in a website. The design team in my company, for example, create a mock-up in Photoshop of how they want the site to look, with banners, buttons, images, colours etc in the places they think they should go. They then give these mock-ups and images etc to me, and say 'turn this into a website'.

My job is then to take all of these resources and do all the behind-the-scenes programming required to create the site, dealing with databases, programming languages, servers, etc. There's usually a bit more discussion and some overlap (they sometimes have a bit more technical input and I sometimes have to be creative to achieve the end result), but this is the crux of it.

 

I think I want to know what is the difference between Web Design and Web Development?



Some of the time, the terms "web design" and "web development" are used interchangeably, but the two phrases actually mean two different things. So that you don't get stuck with a service you didn't sign up for, I will go through the two terms and describe them thoroughly.

Web design typically refers to the process of designing a web site or web page layout and often includes the graphical elements on a page. The design can be developed using a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop, and provides the framework for the look and feel of a web page.

Web development is used to describe any database-driven web designs using dynamic scripting languages like PHP, ASP, ASP.NET and Coldfusion. It also covers database design and development. The term can also be used for client-side scripting such as JavaScript and Java.

 

Well, Web design is the process of designing the web site. It can done using graphics designing software like photoshop, corel draw and firworks. While Web development is the art of creating the web site.

 

I tend to do a bit of both (when I have the time)... But it is good that people that an understanding that the two are separate in some ways, but then again related in others.

Design and Development are two different things. Design means the look and view of the website. Icon creation to color choices to HTML & CSS. While in development all nuts and bolts, customer logins and database must be setted. It also includes e-commerce files.

 

As per my review many people use the two different terms first web design and second web development interchangeably but they really do have two different meaning.
