We are currnetly using bigcommerce for citadeldiamondgroup.com. It is an ok platform, but I was wondering everyone's opinion on the best e-commerce platform.

    Nice looking site,

It depends on your business and your needs. If your a web host WHMCS is almost an industry standard. If your inventory is in QuickBooks I would say PDG is best as it takes your online orders out of your inventory automatically. If you have 5-20 products, don't even bother with gateway fees and just use PayPal or Moneybookers.
There's free ecommerce software out there but you don't have the choice of custom skins so your shopping cart looks nothing like your site. Some software you pay monthly (+ gateway fees) and while you think your saving money by paying $25 per month if you add it up that's $300 per year and you can often just buy a license (one time) and never pay again.

A lot of things to consider when choosing eCommerce software.

One size does not fit all.

That is exactly why I wanted opinions. Bigcommerce was in place before I took over. Yet I am looking at designing other e-commerce sites so wanted to get others ideas. Thanks for the reply & the compliment.

    Your welcome,

I would say if it's not broke, don't fix it. If you're having problems with it then look around for an alternative.

Good luck :) and welcome to eForum.

Again I would say that ecommerce software is not "one size fits all". What is good for one client, product or application may not be the best for another.

    Hi arrowsfletch,

Have you signed on for a domain name and hosting account? have you installed Magento yet?

After those two things you need to choose a theme and then modify it to your needs.

If you need help there are a lot of tutorials at the Magento website and there are companies that can set it all up for you if you wish to pay.

    Good Luck

One of the finest platforms for E-commerce websites is Magento and joomla. You can opt the one that suits your needs. Both are feature rich and user friendly systems.:)

I will go for joomla and magento. But the framework depends upon the requirement of the project.

    I recommend you EasyStoreHosting.
I have tried it, and it genuinely works.
EasyStoreHosting offers e-commerce hosting without any extra charge and
The best thing is that provide “technical support service” free of cost.

The most important thing to do is to figure out what you need in an e-commerce system.
So, it is extremely important that you begin your search for the best ecommerce software by making a strict selection of those offerings that match your needs, and leaving out all the other ecommerce shopping cart software.
Once you've filtered them, you can start comparing them by means of the demo storefronts that they typically come with. Another helpful hint would be to simply check out the software on web sites that are using it.

    I vote for OpenCart.
It's a awesome open source e-commerce software to start an online store - it's quite simple to set up and configure.Besides, it does not take a lot of money.
There are many free Open Cart themes also.
