To begin, I completely agree that advertising and promotion increase sales tremendously. These aspects also create awareness for product. which is probably one of the most important things. If no one knows your product exists, then no one will ever buy it.

I also agree the types of advertising and promotion you mentioned are all essential tools that can be utilized. Nobody can go wrong with any of those options. Like the others before me mentioned, there has to be an online presence. Social media seems to be carrying most of the weight in this sector of business. I wouldn't forget about promotional items/merchandize.

I don't think tv ads are as effective as they used to be but it's still a good way of legitimizing your business in theeyes of the public. Even though less and less people are tuning into tv now it still is seen as the standard and the main draw back really is that it's very expensive. Fortunately nowadays there's so many other alternatives already, both paid and free alike.

I think the best advertising option depends on your business - there is no one answer for all businesses.

For example, to sell to the blind, a radio ad could be more useful than a newspaper ad and selling something for young children may be well promoted by sponsoring a kids' sport club rather than putting ads on LinkedIn.

And while I agree that having a website is an important step for all modern businesses, there are many businesses who still don't have one so they need offline marketing options. And there is probably small group of businesses that don't need a website so much - but even for them I think a one or two page site with contact details is a healthy minimum!

Setting up a booth in trade show using various trade show displays can also help to promote the product and also increase the business branding.
