It seems like more people today keep in touch on social networking Web sites than they do anywhere else: They can e-mail, chat, play games, post pictures and more. Social networking sites are a curious example of the Internet as a growing industry because most of the sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, are free for users but still designed to make a profit. They are always looking for creative ways to build revenue, and sometimes they are aided by venture capitalists, investors looking to get in on a good idea early on and end up with a huge payoff later.

One way is by joining paid social media sites. Tsu is one of them. New but almost as popular as Facebook. Unlike Facebook keeping the ad revenue from our content for themselves Tsu shares 90 percent with its users. You can enter my username, Sadiemarie in the short code section when signing up for free. Its free but you need to be invited by someone to join.

Well, I wish it was that simple. Basically, you have to really interesting enough for people to want to read or watch what you have to say. When in doubt, see what everyone else is doing and try to duplicate it.

There's lots of ways now to profit off of social media. You could sell your own creations directly with the public or you could work for someone else managing their social account and interacting with their customers. You could even try selling other company's products via affiliation. If you are creative enough you can find some more unique ways on how to utilize social media to your advantage.

Dont prefer to earn through social media, lot of fake profiles, you don't have any clue after completing your work. better go with some other photo editing or lot more other work, just learn photoshop in a 2 days and you can earn 100$ a day

I'd love to know where you could possibly earn $100 editing photos. I'm a graphic designer myself and I sometimes have a hard time finding some projects and whenever there aren't many offers I often don't get much of a salary so I'm hoping to find something more stable.

Sponsored Tweets is a great way to make money on Twitter. I think this is great especially if you have a great following. They will want to join with you and make some money.

Social media is quite the new norm for communication this days. Because of its huge reach I think it is a best tool to advertise your product and business. I have a friend who sells his body building products in Facebook.

There are several ways to make money with Facebook. You could sell goods through a selling group or with your own page, join what I call "like/tweet farms", where you are paid to like and retweet etc (Sponsored Tweets is well worth looking at), write comments for cash and promote your website or blog for free.

Paid social networks like Tsu look promising at first but they do require a lot of effort at first. Still worth checking out though!

The best way to make money with social media is to start a business and promote it with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. These are great ways to network what you are selling to the people.

I believe the best way is to connect your Facebook page with your website or some platform where you're making money. Then, using Facebook, you drive traffic to it and increase sales.

The original question here is a bit misguided. The question should not be how to make money on social networks. The question should be, how to utilize social networks to promote money making endeavors. You don't make money on social networks. You make money using them to drive traffic and conversions on your own web properties. Even posting affiliate links directly to social platforms does not work. Very, VERY, few people will ever click through and make a purchase from an affiliate link in a Facebook post. Use social to build brand awareness, and drive traffic to your sites where you can then sell whatever goods and services you have to offer.

Looking at display advertising first is important as it's by far the most valuable revenue stream to the typical social networking service today. These networks aren't search orientated on the whole, so there's no user intent like you find with search engines like Google that match intent to advertising (search advertising).

Display advertising fulfills a need of marketers and brands - it always has e.g. television, billboards etc and relies on audience numbers for ROI.

Other models have emerged. Facebook and related partners like Zynga have experimented with payments - this has been successful for companies in the gaming space in Asia e.g Gree.

LinkedIn a good chunk of their revenue from recruiting tools - these are in essence 'products' or 'services' targeted to businesses that use their platform.

All in all, the vast majority of social network revenues (and profits, if any) are attributable to advertising; whilst various products and services augment these to varying degrees.
