On page SEO is very important for any websites search engine rankings. If the search engine spiders do not understand what information you are trying to relay, you will never rank high for your targeted keywords.

Simple On Page SEO Check List

There is a very simple way you can check if your website/blog posts and pages are fully optimized for the pesky spiders from Google, Yahoo and Bing. So lets run through the techniques each and everyone should be implementing for maximizing the potential of On Page SEO.

1. Always use your keyword/keyword phrase in your titles.
2. Use keywords/keyword phrases at the beginning of your post in a sentence, wrapped in the H1 tag. (I will tell you how to do this later)
3. Use keywords/keyword phrases in sub heading titles wrapped in H2 tag. (ie: “Simple On Page SEO Check List“)
4. Use H3 and H4 tags (where appropriate) for smaller headings and titles.
5. Always use your main keyword/keyword phrase in the first sentence of you posts/pages. (If you are using an SEO plugin add your keywords within the first 240 characters)
6. Make sure to use your keywords/keyword phrases in the last section of blog/website posts and pages. (Summarise your post)
7. Always add a relevant image or images in your posts/pages.
8. Use your keyword/keyword phrases as an ALT tag for your images.
9. Always make sure to link at least once to more relevant information on your blog/website. (Internal linking)
10. Make sure to link to relevant/interesting information found on an authority site once or twice per page/posts. (ie: Wiki, Google, News sites = External linking)
11. Always have your keyword/keyword phrases in your URL. (You may need to play with your link structure to achieve this, as I did)
12. Highlight your keywords/keyword phrases using BOLD (Do not over do this, it can detract from the information)
13. Very similar to Bold use Italics to highlight keyword/keyword phrases. (You can use this together)
14. Where appropriate use Underline to highlight keywords/keyword phrases.
15. Always try and write more than 400 original words for every post and pages. (The more the better)

   Try and keep your keyword/keyword phrase density as close as you can to 1% and never more than 3%.

How To Add H1 H2 H3 H4 Tags For On Page SEO

It is a very easy process to add these tags to you website. All you do is when you want to highlight certain parts of an article switch over to HTML editing and use <h1> Your TXT </h1>, <h2> Your TXT </h2> and so on. H1 is the largest of these tags, as you can see at the top of this page. The higher the number the smaller your titles will be. Once you have added the tags in HTML switch back to visual to see how they look. I know it maybe tempting to try and use H1 all the way through your articles but using a mixture is a lot better for your “On Page SEO“.

Another tip that I would recommend concerns the naming methods for all images or pdf documents used on the page. For example if your content is about 'cheap holiday packages' name your images 'cheap-holiday-packages.jpg'.
