I have found that one of the best ways to network is with a common point of discussion. For example, I hand out off standard business cards ... being a print broker almost forces me to "raise the bar" on my own cards. Networking's end game is to raise awareness about my company.

Also, I have found that advertising locally is greatly aided by utilizing decals on my vehicle. I have been driving an HHR with a subtle, but unmistakable design scheme for 6 years. I added our QR code to the vehicle about 18 months ago ... I got half a dozen scans while parked at the local mall, just hours after they were added on. I have acquired quite a few clients over the years in situations revolving around getting approached getting in or out of my car.

Thanks for sharing the webpage. Very informative and greatly appreciated. The tip I resonate the most with is #1 - "Reinvent the Meet and Mingle". Obviously, if we all knew where the "perfect" spot was, networking might not be as challenging In some aspects as it is.

I wonder how necessary it is to think outside the box when it comes to networking. Why are people so scared to do the normal thing and go to networking events and talk to people? Socializing over a cocktail can still go a long way. Or if you're scared to do that, join a Tweet Up and "meet" some people that way! It's not face to face but at least gets a conversation going. Then maybe exchange phone numbers or emails over DM. I still say get out there and meet people in person, they're probably just as nervous as you are in this digital world :)

Direct marketing is quite effective when you weigh it based on the conversion ratio however the stress involved to achieve it is not so easy.

I usually network when there are seminars related to my businesses. I have a few in mind, and different seminars would lead me to introduce a different part of my schemes. I am a starter through. I may need to improve my pitch. Even have to start to learn how to pitch effectively.

So far, my network is composed of artists...people I came close to know. They will help me with my future plans and maybe some added plugs too.

I have not been to a networking event in some time, I do believe you need to have a more common point of interest than the ones I have had in the past. I am now involved in direct mail marketing which is something every business has a need for it should be easier to start conversations.

Thanks for sharing this relevant information to us. I think offline marketing is as effective as online, as long as it works well for you, then you just keep on doing that.
