Google has teamed up with Twitter so it can index tweets in real time. At present only about 7 percent of tweets get indexed by search engines, so this is good news for anyone who uses Twitter for marketing.

Twitter will allow Google and other search engines to focus on indexing the top trending hashtags. Internet marketers who follow Twitter trends and regularly use hashtags will therefore have the most to gain.

This is great news. I have always considered Twitter's hashtag system as sheer genius and what basically makes the social network very SEO friendly. Though hashtags, you can promote your keywords and get them to trend. Like Google, Twitter has also started offering options specially tailored for businesses.

Fantastic idea! You might as well make the most of this ability - after all, Twitter is completely free so the only cost of using it as part of your marketing strategy is time.

This is an interesting development. Google is fast becoming the hub of human knowledge...it might already be. To index every single thought on a tweet in real time. Wow. Now, how can we get use this to market our stuff better?

I find this kind of frustrating personally. If you've worked hard to get your site ranked high in their organic SERPs, then some folks chiming in on Twitter regularly start showing up above my #1 or first page rankings for doing nearly nothing other than being vocal on there doesn't seem very fair.

This was kind of the same problem with their blended results which featured Youtube videos, a lot of low quality videos were getting ranked above high competition SERP positions, simply because their ranking methodologies for Youtube aren't as effective as their organic SERPs are.

They're essentially making a prime area of real estate open to a third party tool, who has it's own ranking methodologies - which is a bit crazy.

I think it was a great idea. Google is a great search engine and company and twitter is one of the most popular social media sites in world. If we combined the two we have one of the greatest integration in web history. It will be a great help for us online advertisers.
