Thanks for pointing out your article, website magick. Right now, the FB stock is below $31.00 a share. AOL still has a traffic rank of 69 according to Alexa.

First of all it's just a prediction and anything can happen in the future. Further if we analyze the current statistics of Facebook every single day it's growing. So there's only a less chance that it will run out of business.

I never said it would go out of business. AOL is still a viable business although no longer America's #1 ISP. Buying into Time Warner and Huffington Post were business decisions that have kept AOL in business.

As far as current stats of FaceBook, I think the numbers would tell that there are more leaving FaceBook then signing on. And my point was, buying shares in a Social Network is different then buying shares of a company. When you buy FaceBook stock you are buying into the company and not its holdings. If you buy Stock you should look at what the company is doing and not how their holding are at this time. Stocks are normally a long term investment and you want to make sure leadership is strong.

I agree I think with Tsu replacing Facebook that in time it is just going to die off. It might still exist but more then likely it will become the next Myspace. Just a ghost town. Besides who in their right mind would want to post content for free when they can get paid for it? lol

Sadly, I think it is approaching slowly.... I don't want to believe it as I love Facebook more then any of the other social networking websites but all good things must come to an end right? I have loved it as it's way to keep track of my daughters first couple years with storing videos and pictures and being able to share it with my family and friends close and far.

Yea, I think Facebook is dying a slow death. Not many people really use it anymore.

Yes. As others have said, it'll be a slow death, but it's coming. Facebook, as a company seems to realize this with their Whatsapp and Oculus rift acquisition. I'm not too concerned. When Facebook came out, it was really cool to reconnect with olds friends and stuff, but it's just become a big time stink for me. My generation (people in college in facebook came out) loved Facebook at first, but most of us don't actively use it as much any more. The younger generation (growing up in middle school and high school now) seem to be gravitating towards other apps, such as snapchat, instagram, and twitter. Facebook is becoming old and stale with it's original users and is failing to attract newer users as quickly as competing apps. Facebook is still hugely popular and won't be going anywhere anytime soon, but they are on the decline.

Of course, when you get to their level of success, the only way you really can go is down. Nothing to be ashamed of. Facebook was a huge success and changed the internet in a lot of ways. I just hope Zuckerberg and his team continue to churn out good ideas, and don't die with Facebook. So far, it seems they are a one-trick pony, but I'd love for them to prove me wrong.

I don't see Facebook as ending anytime soon. I think it has only gotten stronger in the last few years and they probably will only continue to get more and more powerful, not only as a site but as a company since they are continually acquiring a lot of very relevant businesses that have high potential.

Ending soon? Doubt it. Maybe in 5 years+. At the moment it's the only big social website that contains so much diversity and market penetration. Hangouts is not that huge yet (1/3 of facebook?) and definitely not that active. It won't end soon, the only way to kill it is to replace it.

Probably not. It's popularity has lasted far longer than sites like MySpace, Faceparty and Bebo. It won't go away any time soon, it's a massive platform that is popular with the whole world (bar North Korea, of course!) and has a potential audience of billions. It's a marketeers dream!

Faceparty and Bebo did not even made it out of their social circle. Myspace was somehow a big hit back in the day, mostly because it was one of the first successful social media websites. Facebook is far away from it's end of times.

I do agree that Facebook is dying a slow death. This is because of my teenage daughter. She says that only old people use Facebook. Their generation is really into Twitter and Instagram. They are looking for the next best new thing. I think everything runs its course. Myspace was hot at one time and now look at it. There are new creative minds out there working to create new social media outlets.

This thread was started 2 years ago and Facebook still has millions of daily users. A big proportion of the 2 billion who have registered will be inactive, but that still leaves a good number of people who continue to use it for their social networking.

Big companies would not have Facebook pages if it did not help to boost their business. I often hear radio presenters inviting listeners to visit their FB page to comment, view a photo or like something posted there.

Other social media sites will appeal more to a younger audience, but that does not mean Facebook will disappear entirely within the next few years.

Yeah I can agree with that. I know some big social media websites (polish ones) which existed for like 2-3 years and now they are unpopular. But Facebook is different. I believe this is the biggest social community in the world and I don't think that it will disappear within the next few years, especially that there is no good alternative yet.

Only way to kill it is to effectively replace it. You cannot kill something which people use and have no alternative for.

There's a possibility that Facebook is now already reaching its end. But from what I have observed, that's not going to happen in the near future. Lots of people are still using this social networking site and it's not going to be easily killed off.
