When buying a domain, who do you prefer to go through?

I've only had experience with GoDaddy and here soon I'll need to purchase a couple different domains for different sites. Where would you suggest?

Feel free to post your various experiences with different sites and their support.

What are some pros and cons to each site you've used?

I always go with Godaddy because it's really easy to get a domain for just $1 from them so it's really a no brainer for me. I've also used Namecheap and 1 and 1. Namecheap offers free private registration with every domain name and I believe they always cost around $10 (which is the usual price). 1&1 has a lot of offers of domains for just $1 but I don't know how much they charge when renewing the next year because I have never done that.

I've used 1&1 with one of their offers and they were easy to use. I use it to forward to another site, but am not due to renew it yet. I've also used crazy domains which can be cheap, but they are slow to confirm or forward but for an info address you can get it for $1.99 each year for up to 10 years. They are no frills and their site is not that great either, but that's what you get for a cheap domain.

I'm thinking of namecheap to transfer my domains to, but to buy and forward, I am still looking as I have a few to buy with limited capital.

I've always used GoDaddy myself when it comes to buying domain names. Like everyone else it's because you can get it for so cheap. They're hosting is pretty cheap too but a lot of people tend to dislike GoDaddy when it comes to hosting. I had a really rough time with some hosting once and I had made up my mind never to use them again. As it turned out there was actually a problem on my part with the software. So other than that I've never actually had much of an issue with their hosting. GoDaddy also gives you a free domain name for one year with a hosting purchase. That's usually what I do.

I have !&1 for my domain, they are slow to forward if you are forwarding to a hosting account different from theirs. I need to purchase a few domanins now and doubt I will use 1&1 for the new domains. I have Godaddy but really dont know how I feel about Godaddy.

I've been using iPage for awhile now, and I've never encountered any problems, or had any down time.

I use namecheap for domains. They are cheap and you get free privacy!
Digitalocean for hosting. It is 5$ for a VPS server!

I prefer BlueHost. They have relatively cheap rates (not more than $3 a month) plus a bunch of attractive perks such as a free domain and unlimited domain hosting, hosting space and email accounts. You can also avail of optimization packages for WordPress.

I have heard some good reviews about GoDaddy so I think you're on the right track. Just stay away from 1&1 Internet. That's an awful domain registry site.

Why what is your experience with 1&1? I only have a domain registered and haven't used any other services. Any feedback would be appreciated. I personally don't like GoDaddy for ethical reasons, but also I found last time trying to transfer a domain was so hard and complicated, but it was a while ago so things may have changed.

I've been using iPage for about 8 months now with one of my sites and I've only encountered down time once. They were down for about hour or two.
