    Hi everyone.

I have a website where I use affiliate marketing. I'm pretty new to it and there are still some things I don't know yet and one of these things gives me some problems now. I wanted to post an affiliate link on tumblr not knowing that this goes against there policies and immediately after posting my account got terminated. I wrote to the support, saying I'm sorry and asking if there's a way to get my account back, but no answer so far (this was 3 days ago). Has anyone ever had a tumblr account terminated or knows if I can get it back or if I should rather be mentally prepared to never see my tumblr account again?

Best bet is contact customer support and talk to them. They are the only ones that could really help you. Prepare for the worst though, make another account. I'm sorry for the issue you got into but maybe there is still hope.

Best wager is contact client help and converse with them. They are the main ones that could truly help you. Plan for the most exceedingly awful however, make an alternate record. I'm sad for the issue you got into yet perhaps there is still trust.

How's it going DTracy3, have you heard anything back from Tumblr yet? I would agree with tournique though, you might have to simply suck it up and re-register. Apparently, there have been more changes recently, I have included the link to the article should anyone want to take a look.

Sorry about your account - but in cases like this they probably deleted your account -it's likely you will not regain access to it. If they have not deleted your account - you can re-reg. look your other account up and find all of the accounts you follow and favorited so you can at least get that part of your account back.

Any updates on this situation? I'm really curious if they pardoned you or simply closed your account for good.

This is why it's a good idea to use your own domain, because if someone deletes your account, then you end up with all of that hard work lost. I had a site deleted once, I think it was a Weebly, I contacted them and they allowed me to edit it, so that it was no longer deleted. Hopefully, you'll hear something back.

I heard back from them. They say a terminated account can't be restored so once it's terminated it's gone for good. Since I explained everything to them they allowed me to keep my mail and username, but I had to restart the blog from scratch.

@DTracy3 that's a shame but at least this time you know they won't allow any kind of affiliate promotion there.

@Benson you are right on that. It's always best to have your own domain. That's the best way to build a brand of your own.

@DTracy3 shame you had to restart it, but at least you got to keep your personal info. Sadly, you'll have to start from scratch.

It sucks that you had to restart the blog. I also hate how affiliate links are no longer allowed. I have a couple of blogs that I wanted to use affiliate links on but since I can't, now I just try to drive traffic to the site where the affiliate link is. There isn't much else that can be done. Tumblr is strict on this now it seems.

I guess they want to keep it social only and not to be used as a marketing tool (by others).

I'm glad that they let you open another blog with the same username. I have never had my Tumblr account closed, but I do know that they are very very strict about using affiliate links.

Yeah, same as other social media websites such as Pinterest. You have to be careful while posting your affiliate links as this can cause a ban without any way back. I was talking with one guy from Pinterest staff and he said that they not tolerate affiliate links only when account is used only for marketing purposes. So single links should be fine tho.

To prefend stuff like this in the future, I simply don't post any affiliate links, only links to my site where the affiliate links are at.

Yeah, I haven't read them carefully enough. They say very clearly that they don't allow affiliate links or blogs who's only purpose is marketing, so I can't really complain that my account got terminated.

I've never known any affiliate marketer who used Tumblr to further her AM business. Tumblr has always been firm with its goals. It's a not-for-profit site and if you want to make profit off it, you have to pay the price. I guess it helps to read the terms and conditions first before clicking "I Agree."

I think Tumblr is more like a social media platform and they don't want their users to make them a "money-making" site so they terminated your account. Just use Blogger. You can profit from them as you can link your Google AdSense to your Blogger account.
