    Hi there,

I need to find out if im am the only person feeling frustrated with making money online. we have been trying for 5 years now and still havent got anywhere and swear we have spent more money then actually making any. Is there a niche to get into or these people make it up just to keep you quite for a few more months. when do you say enough is enough and give up?

Can you share what you spent money on? For 5 years, it's rather strange not to earn anything from IM. What methods have you tried so far and how do you monetize your site? It's all about learning from your mistakes. If something doesn't work well for you, try another method.

Just to clarify, I want to confirm that you can absolutely make money online. I, myself, have been earning for a little of over 3 - 3 1/2 years now. Secondly, I am not exactly sure of what type of endeavors you have been devoting your time and efforts to, but it obviously seems like you have ran into a handful of scams. With that being the case, anyone could definitely understand your extreme frustration and overall pessimistic attitude towards earning online.

To start, I honestly would step away from trying to earn online. With an defeated mindset, it might be somewhat harder to get motivated. I'm not saying give up, just take some time to clear your mind. In that time frame, I would definitely research, research and research some more. Research is a must before indulging in any type of make money online activity. There are multiple review pages, sites and blogs that do expose active scams and legit opportunities. Once you have found an activity that you feel is a good fit for you, I would definitely recommend giving it another try. Like I mentioned, there are legit ways to earn online.

Here is a short list of a few ways to earn:

    - Taking surveys
    - Writing articles & reviews
    - Blogging
    - Affiliate marketing programs

Hope you find something out there that meets your expectations. Good luck!

    Hi,
I'm a college student, so I'm always looking for ways to make money online. Some sites such as swag bucks and post loops have worked for me but others didn't. It did take quite a bit of time to get a good handling of these sites but it was worth it.

I just wanted to chime in here... I've been making money online for 10 years now. It's not about starting a business or reinventing a wheel. It's about finding what works for you. There are lots of "jobs" out there that you can do and make good money from, especially if you've tried to start an online business and found that wasn't for you.

UObeki... Yes, 10 years of being very flexible so as to be able to roll with the changes that happen so often in this online job market. I started off with freelance writing and worked that until last year when all of my sources dried up. Fortunately, I saw it coming and was able to have established myself with a good transcription company before it was "too late." At the same time I also do some other odd jobs such as mTurk, Tellwut and Post Loop. As I mentioned, it's all about being flexible.

This really isn't uncommon, although five years is a really long time. Have you been giving it 100% for five years, or have you been lazy? A very high percentage of people that turn to the Internet to make money fail, but most of the time, the reasons for the mass failure is because they were told that it was easy to do, and weren't prepared for the hard work that is needed in order to make it successful.

I currently make money blogging on Blogjob and Personapaper. I also use a popular social networking site called Tsu that you get paid for your content. It is similar to Facebook except it pays you. All of them are free. You can sign up on Tsu.co for free using my short code Sadiemarie It is free to join but you have to be invited to join.

What I think is so neat is that there are so many different sites out there for people to choose from that there's virtually something for everyone. I know that even though I've been working online for so long I still find more great sites each day that I'm online. I guess that's why it's so hard for me to understand why people say they can't make any money online. OK, I can understand not making a full time income and needing to tweak some things but no money at all... Not to say it doesn't happen, just to say I don't understand it is all.

UObeki1 in all honesty, I can no longer work a traditional/regular job. I have MS that's really bad and I'm also a single Mom to a daughter who's been homeschooled all of her life because she has Asperger's. I don't think that I'd know how to "act" in a regular office job, which is what type of job I'd have as that's the type of work I enjoy. I do have a college degree that would probably help me get back into the workplace if I ever wanted to but I just can't do it. Of course, I'd be lying if I said I didn't truly enjoy the freedom that working from home brings but that's what's up with me :)

I'm not a huge fan of surveys but mostly because most of them don't really pay attention to my country and thus I don't get that many offers. I'd also like to add, however, that if you have a skill then it's also good to look into freelance projects. You could sell your services on sites like Freelancer or Odesk which will presumably be a bit more stable than most other earning programs.

JennyC I think there are a lot of people who are duped into thinking that surveys are an "easy" way to make money online when they're really not. I do agree with your idea of freelance sites being better. That's what I'm using to build my writing business. I just need to find more of them because it seems that they want you to pay if you do too much bidding but if you don't bid, then you don't get any work - kind of like a double edged sword unfortunately. I think that if I find more of these sites I'd have a better chance of finding more jobs instead of focusing on bidding so many at just one place and I'd probably get more work too.

I just started working online 100% again after several years in a 'normal job'. Getting started can be difficult though. When you work from home it's hard to get motivated. I refuse to pay for a job opportunity. It's just too easy to get conned that way. There's tons of places online that you can start making money with just an investment of your time. WAHM groups are great places to find new leads. I've done a little bit of everything: blogging, writing novellas, surveys, graphic & web design, reading runes, pimping affiliates, customer service from home, moderating online communities, and writing content. It's definitely possible to make money but it takes dedication, motivation, and being flexible in what you do.

I'll send good thoughts your way Blondie!

Hey CrazyMomma! I see that you read runes... Are you on Keen? I do Tarot readings there. I really haven't found anywhere else that's good for that type of thing, wondering if maybe you've found something.

I was on Keen when I read runes. It was the best option out there if you didn't want to work for a company. I quit working there when they sold off Ingenio and Niteflirt. It seemed like the platform was collapsing. I heard HooDoo is an ok place though. MeetYourPsychic is supposed to allow email readings which were always popular. I don't think any of them have the client base that Keen has though.

Yeah I guess it's easy in the way that the requirements aren't too high to get into it but the time and effort twit takes to get and answer the surveys is just as much effort as you'd put in at most any other job. It's really good when you have skills that are sought after so you can take advantage of freelance sites instead.

I understand your frustration with making money online. I do freelancing online and when I started out eight years ago I did not have any money to pay for any of the programs I came across. I asked myself what was I good at that did not require any new skill that I had to pay for and once I had established that I went online and found sites that were free for me to join and started working from there.

Actually, this is something I know a lot about - I have been researching different ways to make money online for several years and I have found numerous different ways that are legit. I actually just posted a blog post about making money using opinion outpost. A lot of survey sites are a load of crap- and believe me I've tried a few. If you are interested in finding out about it - you can find out more about it on my site http://www.frugallyfruitful.wordpress.com
