    It's true you will not find a list of dos and don'ts when it comes to social media marketing, but you must mind your manners in order for your efforts in social marketing to be successful. Social media marketing is about interaction, interaction creates relationships and those relationships open up the opportunity for you to share information about your products and services. Good manners is essential when it comes to interacting with others using social media networks as a marketing tool.

    Yeah... you got point here. Creates relationships is main priority when use social networks. More personal to potential customer - more chance that he will be real customer.

    I agree. You have to remember, that any potential customer could be watching at any time, even if you are socially chatting to a good friend who you may normally be not so well mannered with in a jokingly manner. Always keep it clean at all times ;)

    Agreed- social media manners is very important in forming relationships with industry professionals. Each network might have a set of "unwritten" rules and best practices to follow when you are engaging and interacting and it is important to follow these. Posting on social, you are representing yourself and your brand, so you want to always want to be professional and be a valid resource for your network.

    I also am going to jump on this bandwagon. Everything you mentioned is completely true. As great of a tool it is, you must be mindful of what is being said and what's going on. Of course, engaging, interacting and communicating is the primary goal, however, without a positive tone and message, people will be fleeing instead of flocking.

    I wish more people would understand this concept. My sister in law seems to think she can be her delightfully snarky self all over my business page. I know being snarky is in her nature but my other customers don't know that. My husband said to delete the posts but I choose a different approach. I usually try to forget that I know her. What would I say to this person if she wasn't my sister in law but a difficult customer. It's actually kind of fun and really good practice but she gets really upset that I didn't joke back. It's my business. I have manners and I use them!

    I agree. I think some are oblivious to the unspoken rules and ethics of communicating online and it ends up hurting them because usually no one will bother pointing it out or even when someone does it's not always clear enough to the one making the mistake. I think you should definitely first see how others do it so you can emulate them before jumping into this industry.

    I feel people forget that the social in social media doesn't mean casual, it means that it can be broadcast to numerous parties anywhere, even if you did not intend for that to happen, people share posts and pages. It may not only be a generational thing, but I find younger people are too casual and think they can write anything and older people haven't a clue their comments on a post with their real name will come up on an internet search.

    I constantly delete comments that are public, due to the person writing them being oblivious.
