Content should be BEST quality:This is even more important than the website design. Quality content would help search engines single you out, and surfers love you. This is why this tip is number one, even though it is not exactly about design.
Avoid distractions:One of the biggest mistakes you can make with your website design is allowing too many distractions. If you have something blinking constantly in the background and other things popping up, while something is scrolling down somewhere else - how much concentration would you need to still go on looking for some information you need?
Avoid image backgrounds:This is one of the biggest website design mistakes you could make. Not only would the website take forever to load in some cases, but also it would look unprofessional.
Limit page length:Imagine wanting to find something, and you have to scroll and scroll to the bottom of the page. For best results, keep the information posted in a maximum of two-lengths of a screen page. If you can manage all of it in one screen, even better.

No. 1: Content should be BEST quality
This is even more important than the website design. Quality content would help search engines single you out, and surfers love you. This is why this tip is number one, even though it is not exactly about design. It cannot be stressed enough how important quality content is to the success of your website. Hence, ensure that whatever is put on your website is worth its weight in gold.
    No. 2: Avoid distractions
One of the biggest mistakes you can make with your website design is allowing too many distractions. If you have something blinking constantly in the background and other things popping up, while something is scrolling down somewhere else – how much concentration would you need to still go on looking for some information you need? In all likelihood, you would rather move on than fight with so much distraction. Design the website keeping your visitor in mind.
    No. 3: Avoid image backgrounds
This is one of the biggest website design mistakes you could make. Not only would the website take forever to load in some cases, but also it would look unprofessional. It is also very distracting and annoying when the writing becomes unreadable because of the clash of colors. Take a look at the most professional and popular websites – how many have image backgrounds? None! Get the point?
    No. 4: Limit page length
Imagine wanting to find something, and you have to scroll and scroll to the bottom of the page. For best results, keep the information posted in a maximum of two-lengths of a screen page. If you can manage all of it in one screen, even better.
No. 5: Maximum Three Clicks Away
Nothing should be more than three clicks away. In fact, the best website design would have you find everything you want in just TWO clicks.

All this tips are useful. Always try to provide the user friendly navigation system in order to get lots of visitors. This system should be simple and easy to utilized. Try to use only one color scheme and avoid changing color frequently.
