Adobe Labs releases a new product today that designers who build web pages for both computers and mobile devices should check out. [IMG] It’s called Adobe Shadow, and it looks to be something that will be extremely helpful in building web pages and applications that work on the desktop and on mobile devices.
    What’s the Big Deal?

If you’ve ever designed pages for mobile devices you know how difficult it can be to debug them, especially if you are used to the inspection tools available in Chrome and Firefox and through the Web Developer extension. It can be very difficult to track down which style is causing the problem on the iPad version of your site because when you view it on your desktop, that style isn’t in play. And since the inspection tools on the iPad are lacking, most designers just sit there turning on and off style after style until they finally find the one that is breaking the page. This can take hours and be very tedious.

But with Adobe Shadow, you install an app on your iPad, a browser extension in Chrome, and Adobe Shadow and then pair your iPad to your computer. Then as you browse the site in Shadow, your iPad follows along like an obedient puppy, or a shadow... You can click links on your desktop and they will click on the iPad and so on.
The best part is not just the device following you as you browse your site. The best part is that once you have a page that isn't working as you would like it on the iPad, you can use Shadow (which is using a tool called Weinre) to inspect the HTML and the DOM on the iPad.

The beta will be available on Adobe Labs on March 7, 2012, with the final release coming sometime in the second half of 2012.
