When I set up Website Magick I had a clear vision of I wanted to do but did not write out a business plan till after 2 years. The first year was focused on gaining a customer base. Without customers there's no business so no need for a business plan, unless of course you are seeking to borrow or finding an investor then a business plan is necessary from the start.

When I did write out a business plan I had data to work with to map out a clear analysis of what worked and what didn't. It was "enlightening" to say the least.

The thing that I still find amazing here at eForum is the number of people who are still trying to find that "Legitimate" make money online program instead of setting up a real business. Although there may be a few programs out there that pay they are not going to gain you more than a little extra money while the people who started the program are making a living.

With today's economy and the high unemployment rate, the internet is full of schemes and scams promising overnight success and riches that prey on those who find themselves in a desperate situation. Having a real tangible business and simply using the internet as another means of promoting it is the better course of action to take, but, the lure of shiny pennies and castles in the sky often distracts people from reality.
Even having a Hot Dog Stand requires money to get started.

 

Thanks for sharing that article. It's hard to build something from scratch. But with the passion and right motivation, it wouldn't be very hard.
