When working with Internet Marketing we can have the best offer ever but it won't matter at all if we don't get to drive quality traffic to it. There is a wide variety of sources where to get traffic from, some are free some are paid and also some work better than others.

I'm interested in knowing what are the best free traffic sources you have ever tried. So far what I've been trying the most is forum posting, where you go to big forums in your niche and become a member of the community there by replying to questions and starting threads, always leaving a link to your offer (or squeeze page) in your signature. That method works but maybe I'm missing some other that can work even better.

So, how do you drive traffic to your offers?

In my opinion, you are definitely off to a great start. Forum posting is one of the best methods to utilize. I also feel that social media is another method that could produce results. Facebook would absolutely be my preferred choice. Maybe not so much of posting on your page (still an option), but interacting with other marketers in distinct and specific groups. At the same time, however, I wouldn't dismiss others social media sites, such as Twitter or LinkedIn, which has been deemed as more of a "business-savvy" platform. As long as you have an unique and strategic way of engaging with others, there is plenty of traffic to gain. Another option is content marketing, which is something I am experimenting with. Although it may not be your first choice, it certainly opens up new avenues, such as articles, blogging and even guest blogging.

I'm curious as to how the forum posting works out for you, because of the nature of it, and not wanting to get banned, it usually takes some time to be able to drive traffic and it should add up over the next few months. I personally use Google organic traffic and YouTube traffic. I've experimented with other methods, but haven't had much luck, so far.

I definitely think that targeted social media is going to be your best option. Take facebook for example not only can you create a page for your business -- but you can pay a small fee -- and they will post ads for you that others see without having to go to their page. Definitely make use of resources like this one.

I've heard that YouTube is a great source of traffic. I've also heard that it can be a profitable idea to buy links to be placed in the video descriptions of YouTube but I haven't tried it yet. How are you making it work for you?

I've done it both for reviewing a certain product as well as to drive traffic for one of my websites. I'm not sure what you mean by "buy links". Do you mean you are paying someone who has a popular video on YouTube to place your link in their description?

I find that forums and social media are good enough for getting some organic traffic, but the tricky part is actually providing the people there with something interesting enough that they would click on it, because most of the time people in these sites have already seen ands read pretty much everything and it takes a lot to catch their interest, but once you do then you'll get a good amount of free views in return.

I find forum posts to be particularly effective too - as long as you are allowed to self -promote, that is. I also post to Facebook groups with varying degrees of success. The only issue I have with this is that it can get quite laborious at times.

Social Media is what you need to bring a lot of traffic to your website. Of course SEO is important too (I mean keywords, description, all that stuff connected to SEO), but with Social Media you can make a chain reaction. More people will like, more will see. The problem is that Facebook wants to change it by delivering your content to less people than you expected. But check out another companies. Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr.. it's really worth to use them.

I mainly use social media. I usually use at least two of the following social media sites depending on the niche: twitter, facebook, instagram, pinterest and tumblr. Tumblr is a little strange though as it is mainly a blogging platform but can also be considered a social media site depending on how you use it. They've gotten a little more strict though with people using tumblr just to post link, post affiliate links or promote a website. I also have it set to automatically post links to new posts on my sites/blogs to twitter, facebook and tumblr with hash-tags. This saves a lot of time.

Aside from social media, I also use addmefast and hitleap to get some exchanged traffic. This is not organic traffic but I like the mixture of this kind of traffic with organic traffic from social media as a starting point.

Let me just enumerate everything accordingly. You can do the following:

On-Page SEO (Things you do within your website.)
    1. Meta tags (title, description, keywords limited to 5 with no repetition)
    2. Image alt tags
    3. Keyword optimization (2% density, 100% prominence, proximity)
    4. Place keywords on your headers (H1, H2, H3 and so on)
    5. Video embeds, also with your keywords
    6. Interlinking (link different pages in your website)
    7. Intra-page links (links on the same page)

Off-Page SEO (What you do outside of your site.)
It's simply backlinks galore: blog commenting with anchor text and keyword, forum commenting with anchor text and keyword, directory submission, article submission, link submission and social media marketing. Your goal is to place as many links as possible outside of your website. To avoid getting spammed, make it a point to place your links on high PR sites (usually those with PR 4 and above).

I would add article marketing to the list. When you submit informative original articles to article directories, revenue sharing sites and knowledge sites, these sites will either provide an author link or allow you to include links in the text.

Those articles will be ranked in search engines and will also attract other users of the site. They will also act as backlinks from a higher PR site.

This can be an effective free traffic source for a blog, landing page or selling site.

For me, traffic from search engine is still the popular source. I do this by optimizing my website with my target keyword and getting links bak to my site through forum posting and article marketing.

How do you link back to your site from forum posting if you do not have a link in the post?

@Baker the obvious answer is by having a link on your signature. Some forums allow for it, some others don't. I don't know yet if this forum allows that or not, but I'm not worried about that. At least not yet

Also if you can do your own blog about the niche you are working on. You can also try to post your links on traffic exchanges. Forums are really good just make sure you do not spam or violate the terms of service.
