I strongly believe in the power of writing useful information as an article of blog post and using it as a marketing tool. I have seen great results from doing o, both for myself, clients and friends.

However, some people present articles/posts that are not acceptable which may actually do them more harm than good. And the worst are poorly written pieces by people wanting to work as writers of some sort!

So here are my top 5 tips for successful article marketing after 12 years of experience.

    1. use good writing skills so people can easily understand the text. That means good spelling and grammar, proper sentences, correct punctuation and using Plain English.

    2. concentrate on giving useful information or entertainment - don't write a long ad and never assume that people won't see it is a thinly disguised ad. Providing good content will engage people and build your credibility which is the best marketing you can get!

    3. know who you are writing for - is the article aimed at beginners or experts in your topic? Is it aimed at highly educated people or those perhaps reading in a second language? Use this information to help choose appropriate words and ideas to write about. It also can help you to give suitable examples, too.

    4. put some effort into the title of your article as it is the first thing people usually see so it has to entice them to keep reading. However, don't take that as an invitation to be dishonest or misleading as that will usually backfire on you.

    5. make your bio or resource box interesting, too, and preferably relate it to the content of each article. For instance I could have a generic bio of 'Tash is a writer' or an article specific one like "Tash has written hundreds of marketing articles for herself and clients' - the second one is keeping to the topic you have just read about so will stick in your head better.

Good luck with your article writing :)

And if you have a favourite tip I missed, please share it with us!

Good information. Yes, it's a good idea to give useful information and then have your reader wanting more, and hopefully they'll follow your link to your site. I haven't done this lately, but when Ezinearticles was huge, I was doing it. I would get a few visitors daily from each article, which really adds up.

Great post! That is some helpful stuff. I agree with you completely on all points. Article marketing is definitely an important skill to have, and you have to come across as a professional that knows their stuff. You can have some great content, but if you're spelling or grammar is off, then people won't take you seriously. It's all about presentation and article writing is a good way to present yourself.

I think one problem people have when trying to write 'well' is they over-do it. You don't need to use the thesaurus on every other word. The best thing to keep in mind when writing an article is to make it like a skirt. Long enough to cover all the important bits but short enough to keep people interested.

I would like to add one important thing. If you're guest posting, try to build a good relationship with the site owner. In the field of internet marketing, having a network of friends who know their stuff will get you far.

Good information. Even if it seems there is basic knowledge many of us simply oversee it. Definitely some good tips and well formating, a good reminder for every poster!

The first thing you will want to do is find guest post opportunities. When looking for places to guest post, your main goal is to find sites relevant to your niche or industry.
