Average Time on Site?

Does anyone knows where I can find more information when it comes to the average time a user spend on a website? This would be very interesting to know and also compare against my own statistics.

Well, I can just see my own statistics there, but I want to know if there are some "general average time on site" for a specific industry or similar.

Yes, I know this, but this is only for my own website, not a number that reflects the average within the industry. What I'm looking for is the actual industry standard.

I want to compare my own statistics (average time on site for my own visitors) against the industry and see if they stay longer on my site or not. At the moment, the average time on site for my visitors are about 3 minutes.

 

so you can easily estimate that more the average time,more visitors spend on your site .so it will enhance with your efforts .which industry are you talking about?Can you please clarify the query?

 

Yes, something like that. I run a small ecommerce site (business-to-consumer) where I sell eBooks, and downloadable music.

Well, actually it's offline now and I'm currently working with a brand new site (along with a new domain name) and that's the reason to why I'm looking for this kind of information. But as soon as the new website is online, I will post the URL here for you to review.
