Hi all, I am new to this forum, please treat me gently. =)

I've been sitting on a few mortgage domains for a long time now, and I'm wondering, did I miss the boom? Was I too late for the market?

These are the ones I still have:-

    LowMortgagePlus.com
    MortgageImprove.com
    MortgageManage.com
    MortgageRepairs.com

Now I'm seeing other mortgage domains around, like TheMortgageManager.com going for $8,8k, or TheMortgageManager.net for $5.4k, and those are both clearly worse domains in value than MortgageManage.com ALONE... they're longer, they contain the dreaded "The" which is just wasted typing length, and a .net over a .com too for the latter.

So if somebody could please give me some feedback, do you think my mortgage domains are over the hill or do you think they have value?

    Thanks in advance.

FREE appraisal, you say?? That sounds very nice. So far I've been paying for appraisals through Sedo.com, but they cost as much as two years domain renewals and I can't afford that for every domain I pick up and want valued. So thanks for your reply, I will check out this site you recommend and get some free appraisals done! =)

Well, that was disappointing. First of all I didn't realize they were computer generated appraisals. I guess you do have to pay $$$ for a human to actually analyze the true value of a domain. I had Sedo.com appraise my domain AlcoholSupplies.com at $500.00 USD, but my search on ZippoZap says it's worth $0.00 USD. No, that wasn't a typo.

Unless there's a better way to get an estimate of my domains' market value, I guess I'll have to stick with paying for Sedo's appraisals.

Whoops - looks like ZippoZap is a fat load of ZippoCrap... just out of curiosity, I ran an appraisal for Sex.com, one of the most valuable domains in the entire history of the web. which set a Guinness World Record when it sold for $13million USD. ZippoCrap says it's worth only $9,239.06. FAIL.

In other tests, I also evaluated Google.com, which is apparently worth $19,363.43!!! I think I may make them an offer for it, if that's what it's worth, the traffic I'll get alone from the domain would be worth billions to my business!!! =)

ZippoZap. Free? Yes. Accurate? Hell no. =(

There are a lot of free and paid domain appraisal site out there. Some low ball the value while others inflate it beyond reason. Ultimately the value is going to be what someone is willing to pay.

There are a number of factors that go into you appraisal such as number of words, number of characters, age, search interest etc. Heres a short article on domain flipping.

If they are already parked at Sedo.com why not just put them up for auction and see what you get.

    Good luck

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately Sedo.com does not offer the service to "just put them up for auction". A domain needs to have received an offer already from a prospective buyer before it can be sent to Marketplace Auctions, or alternatively, if your domain is extremely premium, you can apply to be listed in one of Sedo's GreatDomains Auctions. Unfortunately usually only one word generic domains achieve this privilege. =(

Do AfterNIC have free auctions? I can't seem to find any info about auctions of any sort on their site...

Not sure how it works there, sorry.

Do you have a set price that you are asking or are you hoping for the highest bidder? They are good domains and I would think someone in the mortgage industry would be will to pay for them.

I've yet to have any of the mortgage domains appraised, but I'd imagine they'd all be of similar value. I'll get one appraised as soon as I can, and probably fix that set price for each of them or a discount for the bundle. Until then, I'm open to any and all offer or bids, I would be happy to negotiate a fair price with any interested parties.

I also have, among others, the very premium HitKey.com and HitAKey.com which are great short, generic domains that I'm certain somebody must be interested in somewhere. I just can't seem to get the reach I need to advertise them to the domain market. I'm still fairly new at this, I have a decent portfolio of excellent English word - no hyphens, no digits, no typos - domains, but I've only sold a few at prices I'm less than happy with so far. If I could only get the word out to the relevant markets, I could sell one or two good ones and keep myself in business for a few more years! =)
